Pathology

Histologically, cholangiocarcinomas are classically well to moderately differentiated. Immunohistochemistry is useful in the diagnosis and can be used to differentiate a cholangiocarcinoma primary tumour from metastasis of most other gastrointestinal tumours.[55] Cytological scrapings are often nondiagnostic.[56]
